A video game made for me? Eat ‘em up!

Evenin’ ya’ll!

Hope you’re all enjoying your halloween weekend! I have chosen to sit it out this year because I’m a poor student and super unoriginal with my costume ideas! (I was going to go as Rachel Uchitel {really all I’d need is aviators and duck lips all day} and get Nadeem to dress up as Tiger Woods, but we simply couldn’t find a blonde with a golf club to be our Elin and the plan just fell through. Next time though!)

On the bright side, I got to attend a mini-launch and test for a new video game created by a group of VFS Game Design students titled Eat ‘Em Up! The test and focus group was organized by none other than my EBM classmate Benjamin Morales.

mmmmmm…Bon matin avec Bon Chaz!

The morning started off rather nicely with Sandra, Janelle, Ben and I running around getting everything ready, picking up a big buncha sandwiches and buns from the oh-so-awesome Bon Chaz bakery.  I can’t count how many projects Lui and BonChaz bakery have helped us out with in our time at VFS. From letting us shoot my first film project in their bakery, to helping us craft the fantastic sandwiches for the Impact Awards, they have been a stand up team and we can’t thank them enough.

Mmmmmm oreos, chocolate cookies & BonChaz buns in Banana Walnut, Chocolate & my personal favorite, the Original.

The goal of this event was to get people to come in and try out the new game, give the creators some feedback and have some fun! Ben had equipped two of the classroom TVs & both lounge ones with either a Wii, an xBox360 or a PS3 with some of the most popular titles for people to come in and enjoy.  I tried my hand at wii sports, playing golf — and remembered why I don’t play wii…

Apparently FIFA 11 is super awesome, but I don’t plaaay video games.

So onto the test! Eat ‘Em Up is a strategy game where your mission is to turn various buildings around the city into food and feeding your minions without getting robbed by the cops!  It’s a really cute game that I had a lot of fun playing, and I gotta tell ya, I’m hooked! I might finally have a replacement for my obscene Bejeweled2 Addiction…

The first test group, Ivan and Justin from EBM10 made their test into a friendly cold spoon rivalry.  What they didn’t know was that their biggest competition was not each other… but…

MEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! I doubled their COMBINED 2nd try scores on my first try.  I guess I have a knack for playing strategy type games, and those two spend more of their time playing Madden and NBA. None the less…Take that!

(I should also mention that Chaundra also blew my score out of the water, finishing with a 7,900,000+ something score. Well la-dee-dah.)

Here are just some of the people who came in and played the game today, all and all the reviews were positive and I can’t wait to see this game on Facebook soon! They want to take this game and get it on the xBox Live arcade so, as soon as that becomes available, I will let ya’ll know!

So all and all it was a great way to spend my Saturday morning!  I had a great time trying out the new game and visiting with my classmates and game testers, and eating some very delicious BonChaz!

Enjoy your Halloweeeeeens ya’ll~ Be safe!
