Hallo my loves,
Hope you all had a wonderful week and weekend. Although it’s not quite over yet, I have lots of organizing to do later, so here is your weekly Sunday post!
This week was a bit of an odd one. I was in a million different moods and didn’t much feel like blogging, so I just reposted my 100factsaboutme. I feel like a huge slacker, so I’m making up for it by giving you a huge update of my entire week!
It started with last Sunday’s amazing night at the Sketch Comedy show which left me in a bit of a blur on Monday, but it was a really fantastic night out! My friends KB, Sam Jewell and Barb joined me at the Media Club to see the Idle Minds group perform in “The Really Awesome Show..With Jokes!” where we ran into Bob, Andrew, Lauren, Keith, DB, Jeff, Chelsea, the list goes on and on. It’s so refreshing to see how this group of people comes out so often to support each other at all of the various fundraisers, shows, concerts, and shoots, and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of it all. I haven’t been to any sketch comedy shows since my Maurice-Lavallee days where most of my friends did improv, sketch comedy, or theatre… and I missed it so much.
The show was fantastic! So many talented folks all in one room, and I was so proud to say they were my friends! Being surrounded by creatives of every variety from actors to writers, directors to DoPs, make-up artists and of course, producers has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Every day I see any of them, I know I’m gonna get to laugh, talk about movies, and learn something new. Seriously I am one lucky girl.
I couldn’t bring myself to bring out the Rebel so I only had my iPhone so the pictures aren’t the greatest but I did get a few shots to introduce ya’ll to the group!
So in this photo from left to right we have Amber Cella, Marcel Perro, Alex Dafoe, April Green and Ryan Tapping!
This one we have Stephen LeBail, Marcel, April, topless Ryan and Amber.
So that’s not the entire group! But my terrible pictures were making me angry so I just quit taking them, but there is also : Amy Aucstaetter, Aaron McCallum and Wade Fennig!
I’m going to see the VFS sketch comedy shows put on by the writing floor this coming week, so I’ll try and get some pictures of them then! As well as MoT host Sean Gilchrist! (Pretty sure I’m gonna be baking cookies for at least one of these sketch comedy nights.)
So on Monday morning I went and met with Bob as I mentioned before and we discussed the ADR script for MoT and just talked about all sorts of stuff. I know I say it all the time, but I really love Bob! He always gives me such good ideas and sends me in the right direction when I have questions or concerns, and just is awesome. He went to Vegas this week so I was pretty lonely for my Bob! I know I’ll see him this week, and I can’t wait!
Then came Tuesday, the MoT rough cut screening for the cast and crew — and some of the writing floor haha.
Last week Justin came over and brought me these amazing chocolate chip / oreo cookies and I only managed to eat one! — I gave the others to my friends cause they were just tooooo heavy for me. They were really good though, and I wanted to try and bake some myself for the screening. So I went and bought some oreos and got to work!
They’re actually super easy to make — check out the recipe here!
They’re really good when they’re fresh from the oven. Once they’re back to room temperature, you can microwave them for like 10 seconds and they become just that much more tender and melty… ohhh man I want one now…
So back to the screening. I want to first say a big big big thank you to my Director, Editor, and all around awesome friend Ryan Jackson. He did a fantastic job on set, and for working tirelessly to get the edit ready for the screening, taking all of mine and Seb’s notes and adding his own suggestions around the way. And of course a big thanks to everyone else who has been helping out along the way, I couldn’t do it without you, and I hope you enjoy the payment of baked goods for the time being!
The screening went really well! While we only had a fine cut without sound, music and color correction, everyone who was in attendance really seemed to enjoy it. I know it will only get better from here on out, and as our crew works together more often, we’ll only get into a better groove, and produce stronger stuff!
Episode 2 of Miles Off Track will be premiering on the same day as our Season 1 Fundraiser ($10 a ticket!) on Thursday, May 5th, at 7pm! Stay tuned for more updates on my blog and of course on MilesOffTrack.com!
After Tuesday’s wonderfulness, I spent Wednesday and Thursday not doing much of anything just waiting for the weekend! I worked a shift at one of my pt jobs, watched some of my favorite movies, spoke to the gov’t about my upcoming job starting with them, and enjoyed talking to Jeevin about why he thinks Quentin Tarrantino sucks, and next thing I knew it was Friday! (Damn Rebecca Black.. that shit is still in my head.)
Friday was a beautiful sunny day in Vancouver, so KB and I decided to hit up the beach! Well let me just tell you — while it was sunny, it was freaken cold. We sat on the beach for about an hour, people watching — in particular the two guys doing backflips in the sand — and then made our way to Davie St. for some Donairs at my new favorite Donair place in Vancouver, Donair Dude!
Mountains in the distance, sand in between my toes (because I wear flats and it seeps in), smell of the ocean and the breeze… the makings of a perfect afternoon.
The donairs were not only MASSIVE but they were grilled shut and super tasty. They use Halifax sweet sauce at this place, which was the best news I got all week. The thing I miss the most from back home besides my family and their cooking, is halifax donairs and onion rings at 3am, so finding this little joint was amazing and I can’t wait to go back. Also, it was KB’s first ever donair, so that in itself was a celebration! (Plus for $8 including a pop, it’s a good deal!)
After all of that food we decided to take a walk all over downtown and made our way up to the rooftop at W43 to chill and check out the view.
So while the view is similar to the one in my apartment, it’s much more breathtaking from 43 floors up. I should have done a pano shot — and I will next time I go up there with my rebel — because the beauty of Vancouver really shows from this 360 view and spending the last year of my life in gastown has really been a fantastic experience. I wonder where I’ll end up next.
After that I went to meet Jenny at Raw Canvas for our MoT meeting. We discussed the logistics for our upcoming Season 1 finale, slated to shoot in September in the Queen Charlotte Islands. We’re really excited for what’s coming up next!
And finally came…Saturday! I watched my one of my favorite movies ever : Slumdog Millionaire, and then went out to celebrate Sam Jewell’s birthday! It was a lovely night filled with great friends and even better conversation and I thought to myself once again, How lucky am I?
Before heading home KB and I went and sat in McDonalds on Granville so she could eat a chicken wrap and I drink a sprite (since I don’t do the Mickey D’s thing) and it was quite the experience let me tell you.
I was shocked and mortified by some of the outfits I saw the girls wearing out last night. I remember when I used to think that showing a ton of skin would get me a man, and I’m appalled to see that some women still seem to live in that crazy mind set. Ladies! If a man doesn’t like you for your personality, your vagina will not win him over! (Especially if it’s popping out of the front of your dress!) It was honestly like being on the Jersey Shore. Girls who can’t walk in heels falling all over the place, girls crying on their cellphones with mascara running all over the place, and security guards manning the entire situation — and all we could think of was SECURITY GUARDS OF MCDONALDS : THE SERIES. Any buyers?
So since it’s Sunday and all that, I figured it’s time for Patsy’s “What did I learn?” lesson of the week (Side Note : This obviously needs a much catchier name, I’m accepting suggestions!) : Boyfriends are complicated. Boy friends are awesome. Lesson learned.
That’s it for this Sunday post, so I hope ya’ll enjoyed it as much as I did writing it. So I’m off to organizing, cooking, cleaning, and then curling up with Chawlie and GA and watching some Amazing race! — COWBOYSSSS! ♥ (And here’s a pic of each of my kitties for good measure.)
Only Chawlie and GA see me with no make-up on. (Notice how the eyebrows are cut out of the picture. haha.)
(Stay tuned for the final Bob & Andrew posts this week. Sorry for the delay!)
Peace&Love.
P.♥
