Arty Weekend.

Hallo my loves,

I hope you’ve all been well!

I’m currently on day 2 of being unemployed.  I’ve been quite productive so far, I’ve applied for 20 jobs, cleaned my room, done loads upon loads of laundry, written blog posts for the SMTW project, booked train tickets, found couches to surf on,

And this past weekend was even better! And that’s what I’m going to talk to you about!

On Friday night I had a great evening all by my lonesome listening to the shuffle on my iTunes – with a few YouTube suggestions mixed in.  What did I do that was so fun? PAINTING!

It has been so long since I’ve painted anything I honestly cannot remember the last time. I believe it was prior to the great hand burning incident of December where I wrecked my hand with hot wax.  Haha. Glad I’m over that now.

I did three pieces.  The first was inspired by the song Pretty Woman.  Yes. The Roy Orbison one.  It’s a classic.

I used a dark red, neon pink and white and then mixed some of the colors together.  I wasn’t really going for anything in particular, just how the song made me feel.  This piece is for sale for $25 — for anyone who’s interested ;) .

The second piece is an Easter gift for my niece Isabelle.

I don’t usually do real life based art — because I’m horrible at it.  I’m definitely into abstract pieces and as this piece shows you — it’s for a good reason.  I still enjoyed doing it, blending all of the colors together and whatnot, but it just reaffirmed my belief that I’ll be sticking to abstract art in the future — especially with mixed media…

As you will see right here!

This was a piece I had wanted to do for quite some time now, but I couldn’t find a canvas that was the right size — and wasn’t outrageously priced — so I improvised.

I had made some coasters out of plywood a few months back and had about a half sheet of it left so I figured, why not make it into a canvas? And off I went.

I used two types of gold paint, some teal and dark blue paint as accents, and then added three peacock feathers as well as some rhinestones.  It’s definitely a very me type of piece.  Messy. Sparkly. and Gold-ey.  All of my favorite pieces that I’ve done so far have gold in them.  I guess that could potentially be my signature? hmhmhm. (Oh and this piece is also for sale for $40.)

Following this I watched a whole bunch of Nurse Jackie, slept early and then spent my day Saturday editing the It Gets Better Video and watching more Nurse Jackie. haha. But Saturday night… I got to have dinner with my cousin Laura! And her friend Shauna! And then we went shopping!

This was the delicious lemongrass pork vermicelli bowl I had at Pagolac.  It wasn’t as good as the Noodle House — but no one is as good as the Noodle House.  We also shared two plates of spring rolls — now that’s why people go to Pagolac.  They make the absolute best restaurant spring rolls ever — because Janet’s mom’s are the absolute best evaaar.

Sunday morning I woke up to a text from K asking me if I was into going to the Antique Mall — having never been before that was an easy yes.  Wanna know more? Check out my Show me the world blog today ;) . (Shameless promotion over.)

Here’s a photo I forgot to put in the other post.  These clogs are indeed from Holland, and I’m going to say that perhaps they are even from Volendam — the town my dear friend at the Joussard Buzz has been recommending I check out.

So yeah, that was my excellent weekend.  I’m hoping I have adventures like these for the next few weeks that I have left in town.  57 days til D-Day.

Well now I’m off to apply for more jobs, finish my room cleaning — the floor is a mess — and then shower and get ready for my dinner plans!

Have a fabulous Tuesday, I know I will!

Peace&Love.
